Darren Caffrey is a painter with an interest in the live encounter and document provided by performance and video. Born in 1982, Caffrey grew up in Dublin where he studied under Sean Lynch and Amanda Ralph, and graduated from IADT with an MA in Visual Art Practice in 2013. Caffrey’s work is mainly an online or digital encounter, informed by the language of painting as well as other forms of visual language and the various platforms where they find expression. Now living in Kilkenny for a number of years, Caffrey’s work attempts also to communicate a rural sensibility or at least an outsider's parody of such.
