Marcus Meldon is a designer based in Ireland. His work has investigated human physiology, nature and the philosophy of solitude. Heavily informed by a hypothesis called Biophialia, which states there is an instinctive bond between human beings and other living systems. His video art piece ‘Solitude; interrogating the conventional sense of self’ was shortlisted for the RDS Taylor prise and exhibited in the 2015 student art awards exhibition. Also a design proposal of his was chosen to be displayed in an exhibition ‘The Beholders Share’ in IMMA. His research now explores the interaction between humans and the world around them and how studying this interaction drives very effective everyday design.
