Film-maker, painter, and installation artist Sandy Kennedy studied Fine Art at the Chelsea School of Art, London and recently completed an MA at the National Film School, IADT, Dublin. She has participated in group shows in China, Ireland, and Spain, and has had two solo shows in Co Kildare, where she was the recipient of a number of Kildare County Council arts awards (http://www.kildare.ie/artsservice/).
Kennedy’s work, which involves paintings, drawings, installations and film, sometimes draws on everyday words, reflecting her interest in literature and drama. In her moving image pieces silence allows the work to explore representations and perceptions, as well as the relationship between text, sound, touch, taste, smell – those senses most associated with memory.
Kennedy’s film work is represented in the MExIndex by her pieces, Allegory and Cameo Reel.
