Announcing the MExIndex 2020 Open Call for artists’ moving image works
As part of its 2020 Curator-in-Residence Programme, the MExIndex is inviting submissions for this year’s showing of visual art films made by artists working in Ireland or whose work relates to Irish culture and society.
The 2020 Curator-in-Residence is Dr Richard Ashrowan. He is an independent artists’ film curator and moving image artist. He was the founder and Creative Director of Alchemy Film Festival in Scotland from 2010 to 2019 and curator for Scotland + Venice at the Venice Art Biennale 2017. He has contributed to numerous festival and artistic juries and was lead facilitator for Alchemy Film & Arts tutored residency programmes in 2017 and 2018. He is a founder member of the Moving Image Makers Collective.
Submissions closes at noon on 2ndOctober 2020.
There is no submission fee.
Selected artists will be notified by 30thOctober 2020.
Selected artists will be asked to supply a QUICKTIME compatible file, with preference for the higher quality ProRes codecs of their work.
Selected artists will be paid VAI-approved fees.

Depending on Covid 19 restrictions at the time, the selected works will be screened at an event in the last week in November at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios in Dublin. If this is not possible, the event will be held online. Details will be confirmed nearer to the time.
All valid entries will be included in the MExIndex Repository.
Each of the works selected for screening will be given a page on the MExIndex website (https://www.mexindex.ie/).
